Why stucco and stone veneer need a purpose-built rainscreen
Conventional stucco and adhered manufactured stone veneer are absorptive claddings. Dörken notes they can drive solar-driven moisture toward the interior of the wall, and its rainscreens are designed to impede that movement.
These claddings also go on over a mortar scratch coat. A plain dimpled membrane can fill with mortar, so stucco and stone versions add either a mortar screen or a pre-installed lath. That is the main decision this guide helps you make.
Every product below is installed outboard of the water-resistive barrier (WRB) and creates an air gap for drainage and ventilation behind the cladding.
Rainscreen skids for stucco and stone veneer: side-by-side comparison
The two DELTA® stucco and stone products build the scratch-coat interface into the roll; the Mortairvent® mats use filter fabric; standard DELTA®-DRY is a plain dimpled membrane.

Best rainscreen skids for stucco and manufactured stone veneer
1. DELTA®-DRY & LATH Rainscreen — 12-Roll Skid (1,812 sq ft)

Best for: stucco and manufactured stone veneer contractors who want rainscreen and lath in one layer.
DELTA®-DRY & LATH is a ventilated rainscreen with a pre-installed glass lath for manufactured stone and conventional stucco claddings. The alkali-resistant fiberglass lath replaces wire lath for application of the scratch coat, so no metal lath is needed. Dörken notes the glass will not corrode and is safer to handle than sharp metal mesh.
- Membrane: special high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with Dörken's Air-gap Technology
- Drainage path: two-sided drainage and ventilation through a dimple-and-groove design
- Standards listed: meets ASTM E2925-17; the glass lath complies with ICC-ES AC 275 (MVMA requirements); Dörken evaluation report ER-0323
- Skid: 12 rolls, 1,812 sq ft · SKU 22600117-SKID
Why contractors choose it: Dörken describes it as a 2-in-1 solution that reduces labor costs when used with claddings requiring a scratch coat. The pre-installed lath also makes it suited to absorptive claddings.

2. DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE Rainscreen — 12-Roll Skid (1,812 sq ft)

Best for: stucco and stone contractors who prefer to install their own wire lath.
DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE is a 3-dimensional HDPE rainscreen membrane with a factory pre-installed polypropylene fabric mortar screen. The screen prevents scratch coats from filling the dimple structure, which Dörken says reduces scratch coat mortar consumption.
- Drainage and drying: an air gap on both sides of the membrane, plus a complete capillary break behind the cladding
- Moisture control: protects against bulk water intrusion such as wind-driven rain, and drains transient moisture moving through the wall
- Vapor: lets interior-driven water vapor escape through the ventilated space between sheathing and membrane
- Skid: 12 rolls, 1,812 sq ft · SKU 600068-SKID
Installation notes from the product page: install outboard of the WRB over sheathing board. It cuts with a utility knife, seams butt together with no overlap, and wire lath goes directly over the mortar screen.

3. Mortairvent® 203 Rainscreen 10 mm — 18-Roll Skid (2,340 sq ft)

Best for: contractors whose assembly calls for a 10 mm drainage mat behind stone or stucco.
Mortairvent® 203 creates a drainage and ventilation cavity between the WRB and the exterior wall. Its 93% open polymer-core mesh forms the airspace, and a 2-ply backer fabric deflects mortar when used with stucco or masonry veneer.
- Thickness: 0.40 in (10 mm)
- Listed claddings: stone, stucco, brick, wood or cedar, EIFS or fiber cement siding
- Built-in features: integrated insect screen; Class A fire rating
- Exposure: 30-day UV exposure maximum
- Recycled content: 40% recycled content, which Advanced Building Products says contributes to LEED points
- Skid: 18 rolls of 39 in × 40 ft, 2,340 sq ft · SKU MORTAIR10-SKID

4. Mortairvent® 202 Rainscreen 6 mm — 18-Roll Skid (3,600 sq ft)

Best for: projects where the specified assembly allows a 6 mm drainage mat and the crew wants fewer skids to stage.
Mortairvent® 202 uses the same polymer-core mesh and mortar-blocking filter fabric as 203, in a thinner 6 mm profile. Each roll covers 200 sq ft, so a skid covers 3,600 sq ft.
- Thickness: 0.25 in (6 mm)
- Listed claddings: stone, stucco, brick, wood or cedar, EIFS or fiber cement siding
- Built-in features: integrated insect screen; Class A fire rating
- Exposure: 30-day UV exposure maximum
- Skid: 18 rolls of 39 in × 61.5 ft, 3,600 sq ft · SKU MORTAIRPS-SKID
202 or 203? The difference is cavity depth versus coverage: 203 gives a 10 mm cavity, 202 gives a 6 mm cavity and more square feet per roll. Use the depth your wall assembly and local code require.

Other rainscreen options for exterior cladding projects
DELTA®-DRY Rainscreen — 24-Roll Skid (3,900 sq ft)

Best for: builders, general contractors and envelope contractors running several cladding types across one project or a series of homes.
DELTA®-DRY is Dörken's dual-chambered ventilated rainscreen, without a mortar screen or lath. Dörken specifically addresses highly absorbent reservoir claddings such as conventional stucco and manufactured stone. Dörken lists it for drying through ventilation behind any approved exterior cladding. It also impedes solar-driven moisture with absorptive claddings such as adhered manufactured stone veneer, stucco, cement board siding and brick veneer.
- Moisture control: complete capillary break behind the cladding; drains bulk water such as wind-driven rain and transient moisture moving through the wall
- Drying: an air gap on both sides of the membrane lets interior-driven vapor escape
- Installation: outboard of the WRB over sheathing board; seams butt together with no overlap, per Dörken; cladding installs as usual on top
- Skid: 24 rolls of 3.3 ft × 50 ft, 3,900 sq ft · SKU 600048-SKID
When to pick a stucco and stone version instead: for scratch-coat claddings, DELTA®-DRY & LATH and DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE build in the lath or mortar screen. Check the DELTA®-DRY installation instructions for your cladding before ordering.

How many rainscreen skids do you need?
Divide your net wall area by the skid coverage, then cover any remainder with single rolls or a second skid. These are preliminary purchasing estimates based on nominal coverage, not a final takeoff.

- Measure the net wall area to receive rainscreen, after subtracting openings.
- Divide by the skid coverage and round down to whole skids.
- Divide the remainder by the single-roll coverage and round up.
- Add your standard allowance for waste, cuts, laps at corners and openings, and any project-specific requirements.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best rainscreen for stucco?
For conventional stucco, DELTA®-DRY & LATH is the most complete option: an HDPE rainscreen with a pre-installed glass lath that replaces wire lath for the scratch coat. If you install your own wire lath, DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE adds a mortar screen instead.
What is the best rainscreen for manufactured stone veneer?
DELTA®-DRY & LATH and DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE are both made for manufactured stone and conventional stucco. Mortairvent® 203 and 202 are also listed for stone. Choose by lath approach and the cavity depth your assembly calls for.
What is the difference between DELTA®-DRY & LATH and DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE?
DELTA®-DRY & LATH has a pre-installed alkali-resistant glass lath that replaces wire lath. DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE has a pre-installed polypropylene fabric mortar screen, and wire lath is installed directly over it. Both skids hold 12 rolls covering 1,812 sq ft.
Mortairvent® 202 vs. 203: which should I use?
Mortairvent® 203 is 10 mm thick and covers 2,340 sq ft per 18-roll skid. Mortairvent® 202 is 6 mm thick and covers 3,600 sq ft per 18-roll skid. Use the cavity depth your wall assembly and local code require.
Do I still need a water-resistive barrier?
Yes. Dörken specifies DELTA®-DRY and DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE for installation outboard of the water-resistive barrier over sheathing board, and Mortairvent® creates its cavity between the WRB and the exterior wall. Plan for a separate WRB in your assembly.
Can standard DELTA®-DRY go behind stucco or stone?
Yes. Dörken positions DELTA®-DRY for highly absorbent reservoir claddings such as conventional stucco and manufactured stone. It has no mortar screen or lath, so check its installation instructions for scratch-coat claddings. The stucco and stone versions build those layers in.
How much does one rainscreen skid cover?
DELTA®-DRY & LATH: 1,812 sq ft. DELTA®-DRY STUCCO & STONE: 1,812 sq ft. Mortairvent® 203: 2,340 sq ft. Mortairvent® 202: 3,600 sq ft. DELTA®-DRY: 3,900 sq ft.
What standards does DELTA®-DRY & LATH meet?
It meets ASTM E2925-17, the standard specification for manufactured polymeric drainage and ventilation materials used to provide a rainscreen function. Its glass lath complies with ICC-ES AC 275 (MVMA requirements), and Dörken publishes evaluation report ER-0323 for the product.
Is Mortairvent® fire rated?
Spycor's product listings show a Class A fire rating for Mortairvent® 203 and 202, along with an integrated insect screen and a 30-day maximum UV exposure. Confirm against the current Mortairvent® data sheet for your submittal.
How do I order rainscreen for a large or repeat project?
Order by the skid from the Rainscreen category page and top up with single rolls. For multi-home or phased work, call Spycor Building Products at (843) 517-8180.
